The series Weinheim Longhorns (After Losing to Franken Knights), Germany, 2004 consists of portraits of the teenage players of the American Football club in the small town of Weinheim. All the subjects are German and share an interest in a sport that is relatively uncommon in their country.

In considering the awkwardness of male adolescence and the dynamic of the group and the individual, the work also raises questions about cultural identity in our contemporary landscape. As a result of the players’ preceding loss to another team, the faces are by turns sullen and exuberant, cooperative and vulnerable.
